My dress alterations appointment was a success last night. She is going to take the dress in a couple sizes along the side, and bring in the chest area so by boobs do not fall out. She is also going to add a few loops at the bottom of the corset so that it laces up fully, and she will be adding a bustle to the dress. Thankfully there are not a ton of layers and the bustle looks pretty good IMHO.

This morning I finished my day of time line for the Groom and the bridal party.

Well, after a long conversation with House of Brides and my BM we have decided not to order her dress from them. I was in the store yesterday to pick up my dress and I made sure our consultant was going to be in so that my BM could order her dress. My BM called them and asked for our consultant, and she was busy with a bride, so she asked the consultant to just call her back. A different girl called her back a few hours later and said that the consultant was out sick. This would be believable, however my BM had already spoken with the consultant. They they told her that the dress and alterations were going to be $110 more than what we had been told, but my BM could pay with a credit card over the phone. Just last week she was told that her consultant had to be present and that she had to pay in the store. She told the consultant that she was not comfortable placing an order at the time and that she would need to call me first. She was then told that the other BMs had already placed their orders and that they were just waiting on her in hopes of pressuring her into ordering right then and there. Amusingly, she is my only female BM, so she knew right away that they were lying to her.

I told her to just forget about it, and we would find something off the rack out where she lives. (She is about two hours away from me) I am going to spend the rest of the day calling dress shops out in her area to see what they have in black in her size, and I'll just make her a pink sash or something for her dress.

Down to 100 days as of today,

The invites are mostly done, all are assembled, I'm just waiting for a few stragglers to give me their addresses.
The programs are ready to be printed and folded, and we really need to get cracking on our music choices.

I am picking up some table runners from a girl who just got married. They are white and black, and I think they will look really cool with the rest of our things.

My goal this weekend is to work on the table numbers.

Wedding Update

I'm really bad at keeping this updated.

A few weeks ago we decided on a new DJ - Dennis from DJs for You. Now I just have to decided on the music that I want played.

I'm crazy indecisive about the shoes I want to wear. I have three pairs of shoes that I am considering, but I won't know for sure until I try them all with my dress. All three shoes were purchased for reasons other than my wedding, and it would be great to get to re wear a pair instead of buying new shoes.

I decided to ditch the bouquet that I made a few months ago, and bought a set of three from Etsy. I have a large one for myself, a small one for my bridesmaid Katie, and a small one for the bouquet toss.

Not last weekend, but the weekend before I finished my favors. I bought a 5 pound bad of Hersey Kisses from Sams Club and some pink and sliver heart confetti from Joann Fabrics. I had the pink, black, and white treat bags from Hobby Lobby that I purchased months ago, and I spent about an hour assembling 60 treat bags. Then Dan and I ate the left over Kisses. I also worked on the bottles that I am going to use on the reception tables. They are wine bottles that I painted with chalkboard paint and added glitter too.

Last week I went to a thrift shop with my bridesman, Nate, and I found an adorable set of toasting flutes for $1. I was very lucky to find this, and I it saved us close to $30 on buying a brand new set.

I went to Hobby Lobby to purchase my cake cutting set on Saturday, and I noticed that the style of wedding 'things' I have slowly been purchasing were all on clearance. I managed to get the matching garter set for $3 and 100 more place cards for $1.60. The cake set was also 1/2 off, so it was win win. We have an engraving set at my work that I will use to engrave our names and wedding date on the set, as well as on the toasting flutes.

Saturday I also made our Cardbox - I got the idea from the movie Up. The couple have a mailbox with their hand prints and names.- I recreated this, and can't wait to use it as our actual mailbox after the wedding! I just have to ask someone to pick up pink and black balloons on the day of the wedding.

On Sunday I worked on the wording and format of the invitations and response cards. I wanted them to be crazy nerdy, but Dan was leaning towards something more traditional. I think the mix of both came out alright, but he still needs to read them before I share the wording.

Unfortunately, I am having issues getting the rest of the photos off of my phone, but I will post another update later with pictures of the favors, my garter, the cake cutting set, and toasting flutes.

Wedding Shoes

I had some free time on Sunday and it was the perfect opportunity to get started on my wedding day shoes. I knew I wanted something different, but I had no idea what, then I remember a tutorial I saw a few months ago for comic book shoes, and I knew I had to try my hand at them. I opted to use old heels that I had in my basement because I knew they fit and they are comfortable.

DJ Woes - Wedding Rant

So our wedding DJ (Jason at Liquid Kourage Karaoke) has left us high and dry. We have spent months trying to get a hold of him, and I finally had to tell myself that enough was enough. If he wanted our business and to continue our friendship he would have called us back or emailed us. (He was a good friend of ours. When we got engaged in March he agreed to DJ for us, and told us he would reserve our date and send over a contract ASAP. We never got the contract, and in July we asked for it again with no response.)

Now I am having trouble finding an affordable DJ that is free on our wedding date. I know I should have started looking for a new DJ sooner, but I haven't really had the time nor the money for the down payment. Most of the responses I have received today have been along the lines of "I'm sorry but we are already fully booked for that evening."  /end rant.
