She is going to take the dress in a couple sizes along the side, and bring in the chest area so by boobs do not fall out. She is also going to add a few loops at the bottom of the corset so that it laces up fully, and she will be adding a bustle to the dress. Thankfully there are not a ton of layers and the bustle looks pretty good IMHO.

This morning I finished my day of time line for the Groom and the bridal party. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02917234273389487857noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936163875770097052.post-72205099362717977272013-03-22T08:09:00.000-07:002013-03-25T08:12:00.342-07:00Well, after a long conversation with House of Brides and my BM we have decided not to order her dress from them. I was in the store yesterday to pick up my dress and I made sure our consultant was going to be in so that my BM could order her dress. My BM called them and asked for our consultant, and she was busy with a bride, so she asked the consultant to just call her back. A different girl called her back a few hours later and said that the consultant was out sick. This would be believable, however my BM had already spoken with the consultant. They they told her that the dress and alterations were going to be $110 more than what we had been told, but my BM could pay with a credit card over the phone. Just last week she was told that her consultant had to be present and that she had to pay in the store. She told the consultant that she was not comfortable placing an order at the time and that she would need to call me first. She was then told that the other BMs had already placed their orders and that they were just waiting on her in hopes of pressuring her into ordering right then and there. Amusingly, she is my only female BM, so she knew right away that they were lying to her.
(She is about two hours away from me) I am going to spend the rest of the day calling dress shops out in her area to see what they have in black in her size, and I'll just make her a pink sash or something for her dress. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02917234273389487857noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936163875770097052.post-84922008234485895072013-03-13T08:00:00.000-07:002013-03-25T08:08:49.724-07:00Down to 100 days as of today,

The invites are mostly done, all are assembled, I'm just waiting for a few stragglers to give me their addresses.
The programs are ready to be printed and folded, and we really need to get cracking on our music choices.

I am picking up some table runners from a girl who just got married. I'm really bad at keeping this updated.

A few weeks ago we decided on a new DJ - Dennis from DJs for You. Now I just have to decided on the music that I want played.

I'm crazy indecisive about the shoes I want to wear. I have three pairs of shoes that I am considering, but I won't know for sure until I try them all with my dress. All three shoes were purchased for reasons other than my wedding, and it would be great to get to re wear a pair instead of buying new shoes.

I decided to ditch the bouquet that I made a few months ago, and bought a set of three from Etsy. I have a large one for myself, a small one for my bridesmaid Katie, and a small one for the bouquet toss.

Not last weekend, but the weekend before I finished my favors. I bought a 5 pound bad of Hersey Kisses from Sams Club and some pink and sliver heart confetti from Joann Fabrics. I had the pink, black, and white treat bags from Hobby Lobby that I purchased months ago, and I spent about an hour assembling 60 treat bags. Then Dan and I ate the left over Kisses. I also worked on the bottles that I am going to use on the reception tables. They are wine bottles that I painted with chalkboard paint and added glitter too.

Last week I went to a thrift shop with my bridesman, Nate, and I found an adorable set of toasting flutes for $1. I was very lucky to find this, and I it saved us close to $30 on buying a brand new set.

(Insert Toasting Flutes Photo Here)

I went to Hobby Lobby to purchase my cake cutting set on Saturday, and I noticed that the style of wedding 'things' I have slowly been purchasing were all on clearance. I managed to get the matching garter set for $3 and 100 more place cards for $1.60. The cake set was also 1/2 off, so it was win win. We have an engraving set at my work that I will use to engrave our names and wedding date on the set, as well as on the toasting flutes.

(Insert garter, cake cutting set, and place card photos here)

Saturday I also made our Cardbox - I got the idea from the movie Up. The couple have a mailbox with their hand prints and names.- I recreated this, and can't wait to use it as our actual mailbox after the wedding! I just have to ask someone to pick up pink and black balloons on the day of the wedding.

On Sunday I worked on the wording and format of the invitations and response cards. I wanted them to be crazy nerdy, but Dan was leaning towards something more traditional. I think the mix of both came out alright, but he still needs to read them before I share the wording.

Unfortunately, I am having issues getting the rest of the photos off of my phone, but I will post another update later with pictures of the favors, my garter, the cake cutting set, and toasting flutes.
I knew I wanted something different, but I had no idea what, then I remember a tutorial I saw a few months ago for comic book shoes, and I knew I had to try my hand at them. I opted to use old heels that I had in my basement because I knew they fit and they are comfortable.
We have spent months trying
to get a hold of him, and I finally had to tell myself that enough was
enough. If he wanted our business and to continue our friendship he
would have called us back or emailed us. (He was a good friend of ours. When we got engaged in March he
agreed to DJ for us, and told us he would reserve our date and send over
a contract ASAP. We never got the contract, and in July we asked for it
again with no response.)

Now I am having trouble finding an
affordable DJ that is free on our wedding date. I know I should have
started looking for a new DJ sooner, but I haven't really had the time
nor the money for the down payment. Most of the responses I have
received today have been along the lines of "I'm sorry but we are
already fully booked for that evening." /end rant.

Sadly most of their samples that I loved were a size 6 or a 12, but our consultant (Jennifer) was helpful in finding dresses similar to the ones I had picked out. We fell in love with an Ella dress that was in the price range we wanted, however it was discontinued.

Jennifer was able to find a very similar Liz Fields dress that I loved even more that the original. We go back on the 21st to get her sized and get the dress ordered.
I also tried my dress on while we were there, and it is about 2 sizes too big on me. I was so afraid that it would be small on me, so that was a relief. Jennifer assured me that they would have no problem taking it in for me when the time comes. According to my checklist on The Knot I am 'on track' for the most part.

Dan and I still have to book the hotel for our honeymoon, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. We haven't really discussed what we are going to do other than the fact that we want to take a road trip to Vegas. I'm assuming Vegas in June is busy because of the nice weather, so I do hope we book a hotel soon. Personally, I want to stay at The Hard Rock Hotel again.

We need to get in contact with our DJ at some point in the near future. Jason from Liquid Kourage is a great guy, and puts on a fantastic karaoke show, but I still need to set up a meeting with him so that I can let him know my expectations for our wedding and so I can see a contract. Dan and I used to go out to his karaoke shows every week when he was preforming in Downers Grove, and we always had a blast.

We also need to get to work on our invitations. We chose to purchase blank invites from Hobby Lobby and print the info ourselves, just as we did for our Save The Dates, and I have a feeling that we may run into some unwanted trouble with the printing process again. Thankfully the invitations were 50% off, and I purchased 100 so that I would have extras in case of any misprints. Dan and I used to spend a ton of time at the Warrenville Grove Forest Preserve, and they closed during the spring of 2010 for some clean up and restoration. When I saw that the grove was finally open again I knew that we had to have our engagement photos taken there.
I forgot to bring photos of the centerpieces that I wanted, but the florist knew exactly what I was talking about, and she was able to put together a sample in a matter of minutes.
My bouquet was fairly simple to make, and I was quite surprised. Hobby Lobby had their flower supplies on sale a few weeks, and I was able to pick up everything at 40% off, and it made a HUGE difference. I spent under $20 for the flowers, ribbon, and tools. I used white, pink, and black feathers, and pink and black beads in the center. I wrapped everything together with floral tape, then covered it with pink ribbon, and added a bow.

Ceremony and Reception Venue: White Eagle Golf Club
Lillian Doran has been very helpful, and even pointed us towards a couple florists and bakers that she speaks highly of. She was even able to help us put together an affordable package for our small wedding.

Baker: Oak Mill Bakery
Last month we visited Bill at Oak Mill Bakery in Chicago for a cake tasting, and I must say that I was very impressed with his work. Bill worked with us to make sure that the cake would be exactly what we wanted, two tiers, two different flavors, and bright pink flowers.

The Dress: House Of Brides
I have been shopping at the House of Brides for all my formal dresses since my Junior Prom, so HOB was the first place that I went to for my dress. I made an appointment one day after work, picked out every dress that caught my eye, and I ended up finding the dress about halfway through my appointment.

Wedding Photographer: Rachel Catherine Photography
I found RCP on The Knot's vendor pages, and Dan and I met Rachel for coffee one evening after work. Her photographs are stunning, and we had our engagement photos taken by by her a few weeks ago.
ago!) We had many of the same friends and hung out in the same group during school, and we even lived across
the street from one another for a number of years.
relationship status as well. We had already been talking about getting
married for a while before this, so it was no surprise that he took it to heart, and I'm glad he
did. Less than a two weeks later we were siting in a jewelry store
picking out an engagement ring.
